Cedar Point Ride Warrior or Something Equally Corny
July 8, 2012For most of my life I’ve been a big guy, for the last few years I’ve been a REALLY big guy. Airplane seats, turnstiles, theatre seats, orchestra seats and yes roller coaster seats have all been too small for me. It is embarrassing to me to admit any of this of course but often I would just not go to some places I enjoy simply because the seating was not comfortable. This one time at a local theatre, I stood in the aisle because I could not fit into the seat, that was the worst. In my defense on that last one though my 100-lb wife barely fit so it wasn’t just that I was too big, they were really tiny seats.
Anyway, the last couple of weeks have seen quite a few accomplishments for me on the “getting smaller” side. First movie theatre seats are really comfortable and turnstiles pose no problem at all! Then today something happened that was pretty awesome, I was able to fit comfortably (mostly) in a roller coaster seat. It was only mostly because no matter how much weight I lose I’m going to be tall and yeah, some roller coasters aren’t made for taller guys. I had a lot of fun though and really am starting to feel better about myself. I think my self-esteem was more wrapped up in my weight than I ever consciously realized or still realize. I think this part of the journey is going to be very interesting.
The other really exciting thing is that this weekend marks the first time in about 12 years I’ve been under 300 pounds. It is a pretty mind-blowing achievement for me as honestly I never thought I see the scale start with a 2 again. I’m glad I’m here but still plenty of work left to be done. I’m starting a new weight lifting regimen this week to try to ward off some of the flab. I’ll update on how that goes as I progress.
Let me know what you think...
